Maryam Ibrahim Dan’azumi wins international Qur’anic contest

Maryam Ibrahim Dan’azumi, a student from Gombe State, Nigeria, has won the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Competing in the category for memorization of the entire Holy Qur’an, recitation, Tajweed, and interpretation, she secured the first overall position among international participants.

This victory is considered a landmark achievement as the 46th edition of the competition marked the first time women have participated since its inception. Dan’azumi, a student at the Abubakar Siddiq Community Islamic School for Qur’anic Memorisation, previously secured first place at the local, state, and national levels before representing Nigeria.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya congratulated Dan’azumi, her family, and her teachers, stating that her success reflects the discipline and educational heritage of the state and brings pride to Nigeria.
