Maryla Rodowicz apologises for mix‑up naming Polish tennis players Iga Świątek and Maja Chwalińska

During the opening concert of the "Lato z Radiem i Telewizją Polską" series in Bielsko‑Biała, veteran singer Maryla Rodowicz mistakenly dedicated her performance to "Ida Chwalińska", conflating the names of tennis players Iga Świątek and Maja Chwalińska. Within hours she posted a Facebook apology, saying she was "in another world" and expressed support for the athletes’ Wimbledon ambitions.

Following the incident, Rodowicz also addressed criticism of her stage outfits, which some internet users deemed too revealing for a woman of her age. In an interview with "Fakt" she called such comments "discrimination against women of a certain age" and urged women to reject imposed standards of dress, encouraging them to "be themselves".
