Maryland and South Carolina announce funding for crime victim services
State governments in Maryland and South Carolina have announced significant funding allocations to support victims of crime and violent offenses.
In Maryland, Governor Wes Moore and the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP) announced nearly $60 million in Fiscal Year 2027 funding. These resources are intended to support organizations providing services for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes. The initiative includes six new awardees to expand service capacity across the state.
In South Carolina, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $50,665 through the Supplemental Allocation for Victim Services (SAVS) program. This is part of a larger $29 million distribution of federal and state grants across the state. The funding, distributed via the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, supports various agencies including police departments, nonprofit organizations, and solicitor’s offices to assist victims in their recovery and navigation of the justice system.
