Maryland casinos see fifth month of revenue decline

Maryland casinos reported US$151.4 million in revenue from slot machines and table games for September 2026, marking a 0.1% year-over-year decline and the fifth consecutive month of downward trends. MGM National Harbor led the market with US$63.9 million in revenue, while Horseshoe Baltimore saw the largest percentage drop at 6.8%. Despite the revenue dip, state contributions increased by 1.8% to approximately US$65 million.

In the digital gaming sector, Blueprint Gaming and BetMGM launched a Game of Thrones-themed online slot in several US states, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Additionally, Play’n GO released Three Pots of the Genie, a new online slot featuring a Lock’n Gold mechanic.

Prediction market companies, including Kalshi and Polymarket, have intensified their regulatory lobbying in the United States. In 2026, these firms spent at least US$3 million on political activities and lobbying to address disputes over whether certain contracts are classified as sports betting.
