Maryland colleges secure federal grants for career pathways and neuroscience research
The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has been awarded $100,000 over four years as part of a $2.38 million federal grant aimed at connecting rural students with career opportunities. The Maryland Rural Pathways to Prosperity Network, which includes nine Maryland institutions, will provide job training, personal advising, and hands-on work experience in sectors such as aerospace, cybersecurity, healthcare, and quantum technology.
Separately, St. Mary’s College of Maryland has received a $495,296 three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The funding will support Associate Professor Sarah Latchney’s neuroscience research project, which aims to provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience using advanced neurotechnologies. The initiative includes a collaboration with the Allen Institute to facilitate research and scientific outreach.
