Maryland Fatal Single-Vehicle Crashes Claim Two Lives

Two separate single‑vehicle collisions in Maryland this week resulted in fatalities. On July 25, a 28‑year‑old Silver Spring resident, John William Stacey, died after his 2010 Mercedes struck a median curb and a tree in White Oak. Montgomery County Police and Fire responded, and a GoFundMe campaign was launched to cover funeral costs and support Stacey’s two‑year‑old son.

A separate incident occurred Monday night when a 33‑year‑old man from Charlotte Hall died after his 2020 Mazda 3 left Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, hit a guardrail and a tree in Arnold, Anne Arundel County. Anne Arundel County Police and its Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating. Both crashes add to Maryland’s 2026 traffic‑fatality toll, which remains lower than the previous year’s total of 271 deaths.

State officials continue to promote the “Slow the Fast Down” campaign aimed at reducing speeding‑related crashes during the summer travel season.
