Maryland field hockey secures wins over Princeton and Rutgers

The No. 2 Maryland field hockey team secured two significant victories, including a 4-3 shootout win against No. 10 Princeton and a 3-0 shutout against Rutgers.

In the match against Princeton, Maryland overcame a late comeback by the Tigers to win in a shootout. Key contributions came from Jordyn Holloman and Ella Fehr, who both scored during the shootout. Head coach Missy Meharg noted the high speed of the contest, describing Princeton as the fastest team they have faced all year.

In the victory over Rutgers, freshman midfielder Ella Beach was honored with a metal knight’s helmet for her defensive impact. Playing a modified role in the absence of Ella Fehr, Beach helped maintain Maryland’s defensive standard, contributing to a shutout that limited Rutgers to only six shots on goal.
