University of Maryland athletics secure multiple major victories

The University of Maryland athletic programs saw significant results across multiple sports. In football, the Terrapins opened their season with a dominant 62-0 victory over the Hampton Pirates. Running back DeJuan Williams led the offense with 116 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while the defense held Hampton to just ten total rushing yards. Maryland now prepares to face UConn.

In men’s soccer, the No. 2 ranked Maryland Terrapins secured a 3-2 victory against No. 5 Georgetown. Despite an early goal from Georgetown’s Mitchell Baker, Maryland responded with goals from Albi Ndrenika and Neri Rodrigo to maintain their undefeated record.

On the volleyball court, the Maryland women’s team earned a straight-set victory over UMES, extending their win streak to two. The team utilized a strong performance from Haley Melby and a productive freshman class to secure the home opener.
