Maryland gaming industry contributes $1.64B to state programs

Maryland's gaming industry contributed $1.637 billion to various state programs during fiscal year 2026, an increase of $48 million compared to the previous year. Casino gaming was the largest contributor, providing $822.2 million, followed by the state lottery with $681.6 million in profits, and the sports betting and fantasy sector with $133.3 million.

Of the total contributions, $699.8 million was directed toward education programs. The Maryland Lottery also reported record sales of $2.676 billion, with scratch-off tickets accounting for $1.052 billion. Other allocations included $149 million for public transit, the Maryland Veterans Trust Fund, and improvements to the Camden Yards Sports Complex.

As fiscal year 2027 began in July 2026, Maryland’s six casinos generated $157.8 million in revenue from slot machines and table games. This represented a 4.7% decrease compared to July 2025. During this month, casino contributions to the state totaled approximately $68.2 million, with $49.9 million allocated to the Education Trust Fund.
