Maryland Gov. Wes Moore Launches Workforce Upskilling Funds and Expands Childhood Hunger Aid
Governor Wes Moore continued his “Delivering for Maryland” tour in Charles County, showcasing state investments aimed at combating childhood hunger and restoring the Chesapeake Bay watershed. He highlighted the SUN Bucks program, which last year distributed $75 million to feed more than 630,000 students, and announced $31.5 million in grants for ecological restoration projects across the Bay region.
Moore also revealed the awardees for the Maryland Lighthouse Industries Upskilling and Reskilling Program, a $1.23 million investment that will train nearly 600 workers for jobs in high‑growth sectors such as life sciences, cybersecurity, quantum/AI, aerospace, defense and manufacturing. The program targets emerging technologies and aims to strengthen Maryland’s talent pipeline and economic competitiveness.
