Maryland Lottery and Gaming Generates Record $1.637 Billion for State Programs in FY2026

Maryland’s Lottery, casinos, sportsbooks and fantasy‑sports operators contributed a record $1.637 billion to state programs and services in fiscal year 2026, the highest total in the program’s history. The amount broke down into $822.2 million from the state’s six casinos, $681.6 million in lottery profits and $133.3 million from sports wagering and fantasy‑sports activity. Of the total, $699.8 million was earmarked for education programs.

The lottery posted its third‑best year in 53 years, with $2.676 billion in sales, including $1.052 billion from scratch‑off tickets. Players won $1.692 billion in prizes. Casino revenue reached $1.931 billion, sending $822.2 million to the state, most of which ($599.1 million) went to the Education Trust Fund. The contributions support education, public transit, the Maryland Veterans Trust Fund and other state initiatives.
