Maryland trade mission to Liberia focuses on economic development
A trade mission from Maryland is scheduled to visit Liberia from October 29 to November 5 to implement projects following a memorandum of understanding signed in June. Led by Prince George’s County Council Member At-Large Wala Blegay, the delegation includes government officials and business executives aiming to convert state-level agreements into jobs and economic growth.
Key sectors for the mission include agriculture, with companies such as LIBHANA Produce and Troutman Management LLC seeking partnerships in fruit processing, cold storage, and supply chains for mangoes and pineapples. In the waste management sector, U.S. Refuse LLC plans to assess recycling and workforce training through a potential pilot project in Monrovia.
Technological development is also a priority, with Femdel LLC pursuing partnerships in broadband, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the mission includes interests in health and education through The Juxtopia Group.
