Maryland volleyball enters 2026 season with roster reset
Maryland volleyball has entered the 2026 season following a period of significant program restructuring. After an 8-22 season in 2025, head coach Adam Hughes implemented a “clean refresh” involving a revamped coaching staff and a new roster. The team features a highly-ranked freshman class and several returning players intended to build a new foundation for the program.
In their early season play, the Terrapins faced a setback in their first matchup against Vanderbilt. The Commodores defeated Maryland in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-19. Vanderbilt’s performance was characterized by strong blocking and aggressive serving, which challenged Maryland’s net coverage and passing consistency.
