Marzamemi CineFest begins seventh edition in Sicily

The seventh edition of the Marzamemi CineFest has commenced in the Sicilian village of Marzamemi, running through September 10. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco of Marzamemi with support from the Sicilian Region, focuses on cinema, culture, the Mediterranean identity, and environmental sustainability.

This year's edition is dedicated to the memory of Enzo Maiorca, the renowned freediving champion. The program includes tributes to Maiorca, featuring his daughter Patrizia Maiorca and documentaries produced by Gianfranco Bernabei.

As part of the festival's programming, ten short films have been selected as finalists for the competition after receiving over one hundred international submissions. The jury, coordinated by Martina Mallia, will announce the winners on September 10 at Piazza Regina Margherita. The top prize will be the Premio Reale Mutua Assicurazioni.
