MAS Fez supporters display banner claiming Ceuta and Melilla

Supporters of the Moroccan football club MAS Fez displayed a controversial banner during a CAF Champions League match against Burkina Faso's Rahimo FC. The banner, written in Spanish, stated: “Ceuta y Melilla: dos ciudades, una patria: Marruecos” (Ceuta and Melilla: two cities, one homeland: Morocco).

The display was organized by the club's ultra group, the Fatal Tigers, at the Complexe Sportif de Fez. This political demonstration occurs amid sensitive diplomatic relations and the ongoing joint preparations between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.

While MAS Fez secured a 4-1 victory on the pitch, the event has drawn attention to the territorial dispute regarding the Spanish autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla. The club's president, Mohamed Bouzouba, is noted as a significant contractor for the Moroccan monarchy.
