MAS Vice President proposes meeting for Venezuelan democratic sectors
María Verdeal, Vice President of the MAS, has proposed a meeting among all democratic sectors in Venezuela to mitigate internal confrontations within the opposition. The goal of this proposed “encerrona” is to address differences directly and establish a common path toward political change in the country.
Verdeal emphasized the need for political maturity and responsibility, urging leaders to move away from insults on social media and instead engage in face-to-face discussions. She expressed support for the existing dialogue table between political actors but stressed that the release of political prisoners must be a central component of future negotiations.
Additionally, Verdeal noted discrepancies regarding the release of detainees, stating that while official announcements claimed 130 people were freed, families and organizations report fewer actual releases, with many individuals remaining under precautionary measures or with open judicial processes.
