Masahiko Sato to host ‘Visual Arithmetic 2’ lecture at University of Tokyo

Masahiko Sato, Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University of the Arts and creator of NHK E-Tele programs such as ‘PythagoraSwitch’, will hold a lecture titled ‘Visual Arithmetic 2’ on November 8, 2026. The event will take place at the Yasuda Auditorium of the University of Tokyo and will also be available via online streaming.

Organized by the Masahiko Sato Education and Culture Foundation, this second installment follows a successful inaugural lecture held in August 2026. The session is designed to be interactive, allowing participants to call out answers as they engage with problems presented through videos, picture books, and literature.

The lecture aims to appeal to a wide demographic, including elementary school students, university students, professionals interested in logical thinking, and adults looking to stimulate cognitive function. The program will feature various media, including works related to ‘Texico’, ‘Thinking Crow’, and mathematical songs, focusing on themes of arithmetic, mathematics, and computational thinking.
