Masahiro Motoki discusses son UTA's acting debut

Actor Masahiro Motoki spoke about his son, UTA, during a promotional event for the film ‘The Man Who Carries the Voice of August’ at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya. UTA recently made his acting debut in the Netflix series ‘Gas Ningen’.

Motoki noted that while he has not heavily interfered in his son's career decisions, he hopes UTA uses various roles to learn about different historical eras and expand his understanding of human nature. Motoki shared that his own career, which began at age 15, taught him about the complexities and charms of humanity through diverse works and literature.

The film ‘The Man Who Carries the Voice of August’, directed by Takeshi Shibata, is based on the non-fiction work of journalist Akihiko Ito, who documented the experiences of atomic bomb survivors. This theatrical version includes previously unreleased scenes from the NHK drama broadcast.
