Masainas motorcycle accident kills 26-year-old soldier

Simone Convertini, a 26-year-old military member from Fasano, died following a motorcycle accident in Masainas, Sardinia, on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The incident occurred on Via Roma when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck the asphalt.

Convertini’s 23-year-old girlfriend, a resident of Sant’Anna Arresi, was injured in the crash and transported to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari for treatment. Emergency responders from the 118 service were unable to revive the young man upon arrival.

Carabinieri from the Carbonia company have seized the motorcycle and are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause and dynamics of the collision.
