MASAK begins publishing UN Security Council asset freezing lists
The Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) has begun publishing information regarding asset freezing decisions made by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on its official website. This move follows a communiqué published in the Official Gazette on September 23, aimed at preventing the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The new regulation requires obligated parties, primarily banks and other institutions subject to relevant legislation, to take immediate measures against individuals, organizations, or entities listed by the UNSC. By publishing these details online, MASAK intends to ensure that financial institutions are promptly notified of sanctioned parties to prevent attempts at asset concealment or evasion.
Under the communiqué, obligated entities must immediately report any attempted transactions by sanctioned parties to MASAK and take necessary steps to delay or block such actions.
