MASAK report reveals massive wealth discrepancy for Mehmet Fatih Tançalan
A report by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) has revealed a massive discrepancy between the declared income and the lifestyle of Mehmet Fatih Tançalan, known on social media as ‘Vanlı Kara Haydar’. Following a high-profile wedding featuring kilograms of gold, Tançalan was arrested by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of laundering assets derived from crime.
MASAK's investigation found that since 2020, Tançalan's declared commercial profit was only 74,281 TL, an amount significantly lower than even a continuous minimum wage earner. Despite this, bank records show transfer traffic exceeding 222 million TL between the couple. Specifically, Tançalan's accounts saw inflows of approximately 58.7 million TL and outflows of 56.1 million TL, while Çağla Öz Tançalan's accounts recorded inflows of 56.4 million TL.
The report highlights an ‘unexplainable increase in wealth’ and a ‘mismatch between lifestyle and income.’ Investigators noted suspicious transfers from various companies and individuals, as well as the acquisition of luxury vehicles that do not align with their financial profiles. Intelligence also suggested the couple may have been obtaining income via the ‘mail order’ method through Dubai.
