Masaki Aiba and Hiromi clean -60 degree tuna freezers

In a special two-hour broadcast of the variety program ‘Aiba Hiromi no Okomaridesu ka?’, Masak Aiba and Hiromi travel to Misaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, to assist a long-established tuna wholesaler.

The duo tackles the challenge of cleaning heavy frost from massive freezers used to preserve tuna. After managing a -30 degree Celsius freezer, they face an even more extreme environment: a giant freezer reaching temperatures of -60 degrees Celsius. The extreme cold caused significant difficulties during filming, including freezing eyelashes and technical issues where cameras stopped functioning due to the temperature.

To combat the thick frost and ‘monster ice’ covering the four-meter-high ceilings, Masaki Aiba even improvised specialized cleaning tools using items like tension rods and windshield wipers.
