Masaki Aiba reveals playing basketball with Magic Johnson on variety show
In the September 27 broadcast of the TV Asahi variety program ‘Aiba Manabu’, Masaki Aiba, alongside Eiji Kotouge and Yu Sawabe, attempted to construct an exceptionally long flowing somen noodle slide. Using bamboo harvested from a nearby mountain, the group aimed to double the previous year's 13-meter record by reaching a target length of 26 meters.
The episode also featured the ‘Somen-1 Grand Prix’ final, where four new somen noodle recipes competed for the title of Grand Champion. During the program, Aiba shared a personal anecdote, revealing that he had once played basketball with NBA legend Magic Johnson, a claim that drew surprised reactions from his co-hosts.
Other segments included Kotouge demonstrating a physical talent involving his thumb joints and discussing useful household purchases, such as a fish-grilling appliance for the microwave.
