Masan Consumer targets growth through value-driven products and retail expansion
Masan Consumer (MCH) is positioning itself to capitalize on shifting consumer preferences in Vietnam, where buyers are increasingly prioritizing product value over low prices. With products currently present in approximately 98% of Vietnamese households, the company aims to tap into a growing FMCG market. Analysis suggests per capita FMCG spending in Vietnam could increase two to three times as average incomes rise above $5,000 per year.
To drive growth, MCH is leveraging its five 'Power Brands'—CHIN-SU, Nam Ngư, Omachi, Kokomi, and Wake-Up 247—which account for roughly 70% of revenue and 80% of gross profit. The company is also expanding into new categories, including home and personal care through brands like NET and Chanté.
Addressing the challenges of Vietnam's fragmented traditional retail landscape, which still handles about 85% of food retail value, MCH is utilizing its 'Retail Supreme' platform to digitize distribution and increase direct coverage. This strategy supports the company's long-term goal of expanding its market reach and moving toward international markets.
