Masan High-Tech Materials proposes first cash dividend amid rising tungsten prices
Masan High-Tech Materials (MSR) has proposed its first cash dividend, planning to pay VND1,000 per share, or 10 percent of par value, pending shareholder approval. The total payment is expected to reach approximately VND1.1 trillion, representing 50 percent of the company’s after-tax profit for the first half of 2026.
The company reported an after-tax profit of VND2.202 trillion ($84.4 million) for the first six months of 2026, a significant recovery from a loss of VND216 billion in the same period the previous year. MSR is working toward reducing debt and aims for a net cash position by 2027.
Market outlook for MSR’s primary products is bolstered by forecasts from Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, a customer of MSR. Mitsubishi predicts average Ammonium Paratungstate (APT) prices will remain above $3,000 per MTU for the fiscal year ending March 2027. This follows a period of high volatility where APT prices rose to approximately $3,250 per MTU by late June 2026. The surge in tungsten demand is driven by investments in AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and high-tech manufacturing, while global supply remains constrained by Chinese export controls and tightening mine supplies.
