NEC shows strength as Tokyo market declines
The Tokyo market experienced a decline during the morning session on September 1, with the Nikkei 225 dropping by 261 yen. The downward trend was driven by rising crude oil prices and an increase in long-term interest rates, following losses in the previous day's US stock markets.
Despite the initial drop of over 400 yen at the opening, the market showed signs of resilience through bottom-fishing and buying back positions, at times even turning upward. While the TOPIX has continued to rise for nine consecutive days, the Nikkei 225 remains near its 25-day moving average. Investors appear to be cautious ahead of the release of the US August employment statistics.
In specific stock movements, NEC showed strength, whereas many mid-to-small-cap stocks struggled due to profit-taking following recent significant gains.
