Torino FC reflects on Masashi Oguro's twenty-year legacy
Twenty years after his debut, the legacy of Masashi Oguro at Torino FC is being reflected upon. The Japanese player made history as the first Japanese footballer to wear the Granata shirt, arriving in 2006 with a notable reputation, including scoring against Brazil in the Confederations Cup.
Despite the high expectations and a symbolic birth date coinciding with the Superga disaster, Oguro's tenure was marked by a lack of scoring success. He played 11 matches over two seasons without scoring a goal before returning to Japan to play for Tokyo Verdy in 2008.
