Boston Red Sox place Masataka Yoshida and Justin Slaten on injured list

The Boston Red Sox have placed designated hitter Masataka Yoshida on the 10-day injured list due to left hamstring tightness. Yoshida sustained the injury while running to second base during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

In addition to Yoshida, the Red Sox placed right-handed reliever Justin Slaten on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 13, due to right elbow inflammation. Slaten noted he had been pitching through discomfort earlier in the season.

To fill the roster spots, the team recalled catcher Mickey Gasper and left-hander Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester. Veteran shortstop Trevor Story has also been sent to Triple-A on a rehabilitation assignment following a sports hernia injury.
