Masaya Volcano National Park hosts release of rehabilitated ocelot
Nicaragua's Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARENA), through the National Zoo Park, has released a rehabilitated ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) into the Masaya Volcano National Park.
The feline underwent a recovery process at the National Zoo Park's rescue center to ensure it met the physical requirements for a safe return to the wild. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to protect and conserve Nicaragua's native wildlife and biodiversity.
To monitor the animal's adaptation, specialists will use strategically placed camera traps within the park. This technology will allow researchers to track the ocelot's movements and activity levels without interfering with its natural behavior.
