Mascali: Russian tourist charged after assaulting officials

A 24-year-old Russian tourist has been reported to judicial authorities for resistance and injury to public officials following a series of violent incidents in Mascali, Italy.

The individual, who reportedly arrived from a family yacht moored in the local harbor, was found in a state of severe alcohol intoxication on the Sant’Anna seafront. Witnesses reported that the man, who had a swollen face, was harassing pedestrians and wandering into the roadway, creating a danger to both himself and vehicular traffic.

Upon the arrival of the Carabinieri and medical emergency services, the man became violent, resisting medical care and attacking both healthcare workers and law enforcement officers. The disturbances continued even after he was transported to the Giarre hospital emergency room, necessitating further intervention by security personnel and the Carabinieri to contain his behavior.
