Mascali to host Nerello Wine Fest on Mount Etna
The town of Mascali, located on the slopes of Mount Etna, will host the “Radici Vulcaniche – Nerello Wine Fest” on Sunday, September 6. The event focuses on the Nerello Mascalese grape, an indigenous variety central to the region's identity.
Supported by the Istituto Regionale del Vino e dell’Olio (IRVO), the local municipality, and the Consorzio Etna DOC, the program includes wine tastings, a masterclass on the Mascali area, and a discussion regarding the origins and future of the Nerello Mascalese grape. Officials noted that such initiatives aim to connect local producers with international markets by leveraging the unique viticultural narrative of Europe's highest active volcano.
