Maschio Angioino to host ‘80 Repubblica’ exhibition in Naples

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, the Aerma Polani APS association is presenting a multimedia exhibition titled ‘80 Repubblica: Memorie di donne, fotografie e racconti di ottant’anni di democrazia’. The project will be held at the Antisale dei Baroni in Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) in Naples through October 25, 2026.

Part of the larger ‘TRACCE – Volti, Visioni, Memorie’ collective exhibition, the project focuses on the historical and social contributions of women during the first decades of Italian democracy. The exhibition features analog photography by Gabriele Colafranceschi and is curated by Rosanna Menduni De Rossi. The subjects are women over the age of eighty from the Campania region who lived through the foundational transitions of the Republic.

The immersive experience combines silver gelatin photography, audiovisual documentation, and ancient pictorial art. The exhibition aims to contrast the speed of digital media with the slow, physical process of analog photography, using video interviews and historical testimonies to preserve personal memories as shared historical heritage.
