Masdar and Taaleri Energia launch 154 MW Cibuk 2 wind farm in Serbia
Masdar and Taaleri Energia have inaugurated the 154 MW Cibuk 2 wind farm in Serbia, creating the largest wind energy complex in the Western Balkans. Located in the South Banat region near Belgrade, the new facility operates alongside the existing 158 MW Cibuk 1 wind farm, forming a combined 312 MW complex.
The project represents over 500 million euros in foreign direct investment. The combined wind complex is expected to produce enough clean electricity to supply approximately 178,800 households and is estimated to reduce annual CO2 emissions by about 311,200 tons. Cibuk 2 utilizes 22 Nordex wind turbines.
Masdar, which holds a 50% stake in the project, is also developing an additional pipeline of over 200 MW in Serbia, including solar, wind, and battery storage projects. Serbian officials noted that the Cibuk projects account for roughly 25% of the country's current wind and solar capacity.
