Masdar secures £97 million for UK battery storage; Ola Electric eyes 20 GWh in India
UAE‑based Masdar announced a £97 million financing package for its UK battery‑energy‑storage portfolio, covering 205 MW of capacity (540 MWh) across projects in Rochdale, Cardiff and Chesterfield. The funding follows the commissioning of a 20 MW/40 MWh system in Stockport and is part of Masdar’s broader £1 billion commitment to the UK market.
Indian mobility firm Ola Electric signed a memorandum of understanding with renewable developer Axis Energy to evaluate the deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery storage by 2032. The plan supports Ola’s Mahashakti platform, aimed at commercial, industrial and utility‑scale applications, as India’s grid is projected to need more than 400 GWh of storage by that date.
