Masdar utilizes TERNA Energy for Southeast European expansion

Masdar is utilizing its Greek subsidiary, TERNA Energy, as a strategic operational arm to expand its renewable energy footprint across Southeast and Eastern Europe. This regional strategy aims to transform the Greek entity into a development platform for the Balkans, with potential investments targeted at Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Bulgaria, and Romania.

The expansion includes wind and solar power, as well as energy storage and hybrid projects. In Serbia, Masdar recently inaugurated the 154 MW Cibuk 2 wind farm, which complements the existing 158 MW Cibuk 1 project, creating a 312 MW wind hub. TERNA Energy has also secured a 10% stake in the Cibuk 1 project, moving beyond operational management into an investment role.

During the RES Serbia 2026 conference, TERNA Energy leadership emphasized the company's role in supporting the regional energy transition and enhancing energy independence through renewable technologies.
