Maserati studies return of V8 engines and manual gearbox for limited‑run models

Italian automaker Maserati is evaluating the possibility of re‑introducing V8 engines for its most exclusive sports cars. The company last installed a V8 in 2024 on a special Grand Finale sedan, marking the end of its supply from Ferrari. Current focus is on the 3.0‑litre twin‑turbo V6 Nettuno, but engineering chief Davide Danesin told Australian outlet CarSales that a limited‑run V8 could be offered for Fuoriserie or one‑off models, potentially shared with Alfa Romeo under the Bottega Fuoriserie collaboration.

Maserati is also considering bringing back a conventional manual transmission for these ultra‑exclusive vehicles, aiming to deliver a pure driving experience reminiscent of the 20‑30‑year‑old era. No final decision has been made, and any move would require approval from parent company Stellantis.
