Mashhad police arrest duo for robbery and Telegram-based extortion

Police in Mashhad have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old Afghan woman following a series of robberies at a rented apartment on Tabarsi North Boulevard. The duo allegedly used Telegram to lure victims into a relationship before ambushing them.

One victim reported being deceived by the woman on Telegram and subsequently brought to the apartment. Upon arrival, the man held a knife to the victim's throat and forced a transfer of 10 million Tomans via mobile banking.

Authorities conducted a surprise operation and apprehended the suspects while they were asleep. Investigations revealed that both suspects are users of chemical drugs and that the man has a prior history of cyber fraud.
