Masicka tops Jamaica YouTube charts as Chronic Law faces US legal proceedings

Dancehall artist Masicka has become Jamaica’s most-viewed artist on YouTube for August 2026, ending a seven-month streak by Chronic Law. According to YouTube Charts data, Masicka generated 10.1 million views during the August 3–30 tracking period, surpassing Chronic Law, who recorded 9.17 million views.

Masicka’s dominance is supported by his third studio album, ‘Forever Reign’, which has held the number one spot on Apple Music Jamaica since its August 14 release. His track ‘Honor Roll’ also performed strongly, ranking fourth on the YouTube Jamaica songs chart with 1.02 million views.

Separately, Chronic Law, whose legal name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, faces ongoing legal proceedings in Albany, Georgia. He is currently facing federal charges for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. His defense attorney, Ana Davide, is expected to undergo the discovery process regarding recovered firearms and ammunition. The defense may file a Motion for Reconsideration of Detention Order to challenge his current custody status. If convicted, Chronic Law faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
