Masjid al-Haram security and muazin requirements
The Masjid al-Haram in Makkah remains a focal point of religious devotion and security. Recent reports highlight the strict criteria for serving as a muazin at the holy site. According to the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, candidates must meet rigorous standards including religious knowledge, vocal ability, personal integrity, and health. Additionally, the position is reserved for Saudi Arabian citizens.
In terms of security, Saudi authorities recently issued an alert regarding a drone that approached the restricted airspace of Makkah. The drone was destroyed by authorities before it could enter the restricted zone. Despite the security alert, pilgrims performing Tawaf around the Kaaba reportedly continued their rituals without signs of panic.
