Mason County sees healthcare and tech infrastructure expansion

Mason County is experiencing significant infrastructure and economic development. Marshall Health Network and Rivers Health have opened a new 12,000 square foot emergency department in Point Pleasant. The facility, which is more than twice the size of the previous emergency room, was partially funded by a $7 million state Rural Hospital Grant. The new department includes 11 private treatment rooms, dedicated pediatric and trauma rooms, psychiatric rooms, decontamination suites, and an ambulance bay. It is scheduled to open to patients on September 1.

Simultaneously, technology firm Nscale is investing in the local workforce through a $500,000 donation to the Mason County Board of Education. This funding will establish a STEM and skilled-trades initiative to prepare students for roles related to the Monarch Compute Campus, a large-scale data center being developed in the county. An economic impact study by Ernst & Young estimates that the Monarch Compute Campus will generate 6,000 jobs over the next two years, including 700 permanent positions during its first phase.
