Manchester United's Michael Carrick downplays Mason Mount injury scare

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has downplayed injury concerns regarding Mason Mount following a 1-1 pre-season draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg. Mount, who has struggled with fitness since joining the club in 2023, was substituted after 18 minutes after appearing to suffer a foot injury following a kick.

Carrick described the substitution as a precautionary measure, stating, “He got kicked. We just wanted to be careful and look after him.” Post-match footage showed the midfielder walking to the team bus without any visible support, such as a protective boot or knee brace.

In addition to Mount, veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton left the pitch in the second half due to a right hamstring problem. Despite these setbacks, Carrick expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and problem-solving abilities. Manchester United's next fixtures include matches against Leeds United in Dublin and AC Milan before beginning their Premier League campaign against Hull City on August 22.
