MasOrange and Ericsson test 6 GHz band for future 6G networks

MasOrange and Ericsson have successfully conducted tests in the 6 GHz band to prepare for the future deployment of 6G technology. While commercial 6G networks are not expected until approximately 2030, these trials focus on testing candidate spectrum and advanced active antenna architectures.

A key objective of these tests is the development of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC). This technology aims to allow future networks to use radio signals to perceive their physical surroundings. This capability could enable the detection of people, vehicles, or obstacles without the need for cameras, facilitating applications in autonomous mobility, industrial monitoring, and the creation of real-time digital twins for cities and infrastructure.
