Masoud Pezeshkian criticizes nuclear double standards at UN

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly, accusing the international community of double standards regarding nuclear security. He argued that while Iran is subject to constant inspections and sanctions, Israel possesses weapons of mass destruction and is not a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), thus avoiding similar oversight.

Pezeshkian stated that Tehran is prepared for diplomacy and dialogue but will not accept the ‘language of force’ or conditions perceived as threats. He emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes and does not seek to produce nuclear weapons.

In response, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that reaching an agreement with Iran will require significant time and hard work. Rubio noted that the United States maintains multiple options, including military ones, to address the situation.
