Masquefa breaks ground on new €2.4M elderly day center
The municipality of Masquefa has officially broken ground on a new day center for the elderly and individuals requiring continuous care. Located in the former cinema building in front of the Town Hall, the project aims to double the facility's capacity from 15 to 30 places.
The project involves a total investment of nearly €2.4 million. Funding is provided by the Diputació de Barcelona with €700,000, the Generalitat de Catalunya with €340,000 via the PUOSC program, and the remaining balance covered by the municipal government.
The new facility will feature a ground floor dedicated to daytime care and an upper floor containing service-related areas, including a 100-square-meter multipurpose space for community use. Planned amenities include laundry services, a hair salon, a social dining room, and various therapeutic workshops. The center is intended to be open to the wider community, offering services to elderly residents even if they are not regular users of the day center.
