Mass blood donation drives attract hundreds in Otočac and Kragujevac
In Otočac, Croatia, the Red Cross organized its third voluntary blood‑donation action on 20 July. A total of 125 residents turned up, with 122 successfully donating blood. Eight first‑time donors joined the ‘humanitarian family’ and young Red Cross volunteers helped run the event.
In Kragujevac, Serbia, a large summer blood‑donation campaign was held on 23 July at the Hotel Kragujevac, coordinated by the local Red Cross, the hospital blood bank and the city administration. Open to healthy adults aged 18‑65, the drive is part of the 22nd Summer Campaign aimed at maintaining stable blood supplies during the hot months. Participants received a brief health check, a ten‑minute donation and a thank‑you meal.
Both events illustrate ongoing community efforts across the region to ensure adequate blood reserves and promote volunteer solidarity.
