Massachusetts cannabis regulators release THC potency audit results

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission has released the results of an audit regarding THC potency labeling on marijuana flower products. The audit, which began in May, aimed to ensure accurate labeling for recreational consumers and medical patients who rely on potency data for precise dosing.

Regulators tested 63 cannabis flower products from 62 different producers collected from retail stores and medical dispensaries. The Commission defines an accurate label as one where the actual THC content falls between 75% and 125% of the amount stated on the packaging. While most samples were found to be within this acceptable range, approximately one in five products were noncompliant.

Thirteen samples received 'red' ratings for falling outside the acceptable range. The Commission is currently notifying the producers of these noncompliant products and will prevent further sales of the affected items. Commission Chair Chris Harding stated that the audit is a step toward enhancing oversight and maintaining trust in both the adult-use and medical marijuana markets.
