Massachusetts mother tried for killing three children claims postpartum psychosis

A trial began on July 20 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, for 36‑year‑old Lindsay Clancy, accused of murdering her three children—Cora (5), Dawson (3) and infant Callan (8 months)—on Jan. 24, 2023 in Duxbury, a Boston suburb. Prosecutors allege she strangled the children with sports elastic bands, then attempted suicide and was left paralysed.

Clancy has entered a not‑guilty plea. Her defence plans to argue that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis, hearing voices that compelled her to act, and therefore lacked criminal responsibility.
