Massachusetts ranks highest in new U.S. state health report
A new report by the Suzuki Law Firm ranks Massachusetts as the healthiest state in the United States, earning an overall score of 86.94 out of 100. The study evaluated several factors, including mental illness rates, chronic disease, lifestyle habits, healthcare access, and health outcomes.
In contrast, Louisiana ranked last in the nation with a score of 11.77. The report identified a significant regional divide, noting that six of the top 10 healthiest states are located in the Northeast, while eight of the bottom 10 states are located in the South.
Other top-performing states included New Hampshire, Hawaii, Minnesota, and Connecticut. Regarding life expectancy, Hawaii led the nation at 80 years, followed by Massachusetts at 79.8 years, while West Virginia recorded the lowest life expectancy at 72.2 years.
