Massachusetts student suspended over Death Note notebook
A student at Chocksett Middle School in Sterling, Massachusetts, was suspended for three days after administrators discovered a ‘Death Note’ notebook containing the names of several classmates.
Following an investigation by school officials and the Sterling Police Department, authorities determined the notebook was inspired by a supernatural anime series and did not pose a legitimate threat. Principal Tina Boss stated there was ‘no indication that the notebook or its contents were intended as a threat toward the school or any particular student.’
The Sterling Police Department announced it is not seeking criminal charges. However, police maintained a presence on the school grounds on October 6 to ensure safety.
