Massachusetts voters to decide on nine ballot questions in November

Massachusetts voters will face nine ballot questions this November, including a controversial proposal to replace partisan primaries with all-party primaries for most state, federal, and local offices. Proponents of Question 3, led by Harvard professor Danielle Allen, argue the change would increase competition in a state where many legislative races currently feature only a single candidate. Opponents, including Voting Rights MA chair Jordan Berg Powers and several high-profile Democratic leaders, have raised concerns regarding the initiative.

Other ballot measures include Question 1, which seeks to expand Public Records Law to increase government transparency, and Question 2, which addresses the ability of public defenders to unionize. Community members at Suffolk University expressed support for expanding public access to taxpayer-funded records and the right of legal aid attorneys to engage in collective bargaining.
